With the special guest we had tonight, plus the food and the company, it's hard to write about just the whiskey and not the whiskey Tuesday overall. But this whiskey is honestly smooth, original, and flavorful. It represents all the bourbon staples: oak, vanilla, and caramel, but it throws the rye in there for a truly special flavor. This family distillery delivers on tradition and authenticity, but doesn't blow you away entirely. For that last reason I give it an 8/10.

There's something to be said about the "alchemy" of a father-son creation. Like the great state of Vermont, Smugglers' is hearty, wholesome, and vigilant. This was a surprisingly smooth bourbon. It got neither better nor worse with time. It was consistently good. 7.5/10

I have complete rookie status in whiskey tasting, or even drinking for that matter. What I can say about this bourbon is that I could swish it around in my mouth and not become nauseated. It has a definitive taste; I would say it is full bodied and the first note I tasted was oak with vanilla following soon after, and a caramel finish. It is very smooth/drinkable for someone who does not normally drink whiskey. Uneducated 8/10.
