The bottle does tell you everything you need to know about this whiskey. You can taste the char, and the oak and that's about all you'll get as far as a flavor palette is concerned. The smell is harsh and may turn you and most people off, but on ice, this is an extremely drinkable whisky. While it is plain, and doesn't deliver much extra, it's a cool feeling to drink the whiskey of John Wayne, and it definitely represents him and that time period. well. 6.5/10

I had the pleasure of selecting our whisky for the week. Staring at the wall of whiskeys, a cowboy popped out at me and I saw it, the Duke! Overall, the Duke is a typical man's man drink. I appreciate the description, but the flavor is lacking. It goes down easy, but it doesn't taste like much, besides a little char from the barrels.
